M.O.G Is Elevating The Christian Hip-Hop Game With ‘Feel No Way’ Visuals

M.O.G Da Real

Minneapolis-based emcee M.O.G has just made me a believer in Christian Hip-Hop. I was first introduced to the rising wordsmith last month at his Feel No Way video release at a local theatre flanked by scores of his tight-knit biological and church family.  I had no idea what to expect as I was invited out by a close friend who happens to be the cousin of his wife (I know, right?).

Turns out, Feel No Way is one of those rare gospel tunes that can stand on its own without having to qualify it as “Jesus music.” You know, like not booing a bad Apollo performance because the tone-deaf offender contestant sang His Eye Is On The Sparrow. No, this song could be added to any indie (or mainstream) radio playlist without issue, combining a compelling storyline with production by Trybishop, who has produced and/or co-written for such majors as Akon, T-Pain, Young Jeezy and Sza. And, like his entire movement, it’s a family affair featuring vocals from his own daughter ElishaLove.

The Aaron Berger-directed visuals are equally as impressive as the track, itself.  Work-out sessions, bike rides and pool dives capture his buoyant personality while turning a feel good lens towards the ever-grinding emcee who is all about finding joy and peace in God without the preachy aftertaste.

On all fronts, Feel No Way is as legitimate a contender when it comes to bringing his sound mainstream as a LeCrae or Mali Music. It not only showcases M.O.G’s ability to elevate the sound, but also the experience, of hip-hop in the realm of gospel music. And, I definitely won’t feel no way not if, but when, he wins.
